Bringing “Lady Liberty” to Snow Canyon

On Saturday morning, November 2, 2024, a massive American flag was unfurled and carefully suspended between a large gap in the stunning red rocks of Southern Utah’s Snow Canyon State Park. Measuring an impressive 150 feet by 78 feet - nearly a quarter of an acre! - Follow the Flag and United We Pledge have once again teamed to bring this remarkable symbol of hope, courage and patriotism to our community.
Ths impressive flag is affectionately dubbed, “Lady Liberty” and is one of two of the largest American flags in existence. Using drones to do the work, it is hung on guy wires that are barely visible as the flag billows and sways in the wind. Just standing in its presence invokes feelings of wonder, reverence and awe.
Sharing on their website that, “the spirit of the flag has a way of making us all feel connected”, Follow the Flag is a non-profit organization dedicated to their mission to:
Honor those who sacrifice to safeguard our country;
Heal all fighting their battles of every day; and
Inspire strength and drive to rise up and raise up a more unified America.
The simple act of flying “Lady Liberty” seems to have a palpable impact on all who cross its path. If you listen quietly, people can be heard reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, or letting their voices echo through the canyon as they sing our National Anthem. Children stop and gaze, and voices throughout the red rocks speak in hushed and respectful tones. The striking display encourages all to take a moment to reflect and inspires each to walk a little taller and a little more proud of this beautiful and blessed country we live in.
Appropriately hanging during this Veteran’s Day season, “Lady Liberty” will become the backdrop for a Veteran’s Day Tribute, “One Nation, Under God” to be held at 9:00 am on November 11, 2024, and will be on display through November 15, 2024.
